Tottenham fullback Pedro Porro insists he left Sporting CP in January "in the right way".
Sections of the Sporting were unhappy with the manner of Porro's departure.
But he told Sky Sports: "I'm a player with a very strong mentality. I played until my last day there, not knowing what was going to happen. I didn't want to disrespect my previous club. That's how I am, a person who likes things to be done the right way.
"I understood Sporting's position, as I understood Tottenham's. They didn't want to lose a player in January and have to buy another. But it was an issue between the clubs. In the end, it went well, and now I'm here, which is the most important thing."
On Antonio Conte's departure, Porro added: "I was on international commitments with the Spain national team and then I found out that the coach had left. I would have liked to have worked longer with him, but now we have to do our best for Cristian Stellini and Ryan Mason [ interim coaches]."
