The Philadelphia Flyers have been trying to build on the success of the city's other sports teams and got off to a great start by surprisingly winning four of their first games.
On Sunday, things did not go as well in a 3-0 loss to the San Jose Sharks. It did not get a glowing review from head coach John Tortorella.
When asked about the performance of his team defensively and overall, Tortorella simply scoffed by saying "the whole performance. It sucked."
Kevin Hayes and Travis Konecny did not see the ice in the third period of the Flyers' 3-0 loss.

"Our whole performance, it sucked," John Tortorella said.@JHallNBCS has the story: https://t.co/TmwHO3Ae0m
The game also saw the Flyers bench two of their highest-paid players — Kevin Hayes and Travis Konecny — for the entire third period.
Expectations for the Flyers were extremely low entering the season, and the presence of Tortorella certainly added to the potential for fireworks with this team. He is a hard-nosed, no-nonsense coach that will be harshly critical of poor performance. He is not afraid to bench stars, he is not afraid to say his team sucked, and he has no patience for losing.
Combine that with the intense element of a demanding fan base and the Philadelphia media and you can probably expect more press conferences like this. Even with Sunday's loss the Flyers are still 4-2-0 on the season and have been surprisingly competitive. It just did not work out on Sunday.
