Watch: Duquesne MBB Postgame Following Loss to Dayton

The Duquesne Men’s Basketball Team displayed fight in some spots, but Dayton, specifically DaRon Holmes II’s composure in the most crucial moments, led to a 72-62 triumph over the Dukes in front of a sold-out crowd of 3,724 Friday night at the UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse.

Holmes’s 33 points were one short of his career high and his 12 rebounds gave him his third double-double of the season.

For Duquesne, Dae Dae Grant scored all 14 of his points in the second half and Jake DiMichele had a career night for a second consecutive game with his 12 points.

Following the contest, both sophomore guard Kareem Rozier and coach Keith Dambrot met with reporters to discuss the setback.

Anthony Grant spoke to Dayton Daily News’s David Jablonski following the game and gratis the latter, had this as his opening statement.

“I thought this was a great college basketball environment, student section,” remarked Grant. “We had a great turnout. It was great to see the building packed, ESPN game. I thought our guys understood Duquesne’s a really good team. I know they started off rough here. I’ve got no doubt, they’re going to make a run, they’re a good team. Our guys did a great job of following the scouting report. They’re three-headed monster in the backcourt is really dangerous, one of the best in the league. Our guys were able to limit those opportunities for them. We were able to get out in transition because of that. They made a run and then DaRon just took over. Dominated the game, especially in the second half.”
